Probably the most common way that people like to make their presentations is by copying slides from old presentations to make new ones. This is a great way to make just another presentation, but its not a great way to deliver your message effectively.
A Presentation is Not a Report
Of course, there needs to be a rhythm in the presentation. There needs to be a link between topics that are presented and delivered.
Point A to Point B
Your job as a presenter is to take your audience from Point A to Point B. Tell them exactly where you can guide them to. Figure out where they are now, and understand how to take them to where they need to be. But, instead of just telling them how great it will be, use a step by step process to help them see themselves at their destination.
Be More Honest
Be more realistic when proposing a solution. You may be helping them getting to a decision, or to use a new process in their business. You may be trying to get their support for a cause, or to understand a financial analysis. Be specific and clear with your claims.
Know Your Audience
You can’t make a good presentation for an audience you don’t know. You need to know the reasons why they will be attending; their understanding of the topic; their likes; and their dislikes. This will help you understand how to approach your audience.
Plan a Presentation that Flows
Now, you should know where your audience is and where you need to take them. Now, all you need to do is to think about the route you’re going to take them through. Its almost like story telling. Help the audience see themselves go from where they are in the beginning to their destination at the end.
